Award win for Asset Handling at the Smart Factory Expo

Asset Handling seized the opportunity to pitch their condition monitoring solution at the Hack and Pitch Smart Factory Expo in Liverpool and walked away with a well-deserved win in the condition monitoring category.

Digital Catapult’s Hack and Pitch competition provides SME’s and new enterprises the opportunity to pitch innovative solutions to challenges faced by leading names in manufacturing including BOC, Thales and RS Components at the Smart Factory Expo which hosted around 4000 manufacturers across the 15 and 16 November.

Steve Edgson, Director at Asset Handling presented the Asset Insight Manager (AIM) condition monitoring system to answer BOC’s challenge of ‘the use of machine monitoring in the gas production process.’

BOC’s team monitor a diverse range of machinery used in the gas production process. While most BOC plants are monitored through a Remote Operating Centre, many of the machines have limited sensors or gauges. For those that don’t, the inspection process is manual without real-time visibility of variables such as vibrations, temperatures and pressures. BOC would like to more effectively and remotely monitor and track their machines, especially compressors, to be able to respond promptly to alerting signs and ultimately avoid failures.

The AIM system deploys sensors attached to the asset which monitor vibration, temperature and acoustics with spectral analysis applied to vibration monitoring to enable machine learning. Continuous real time data is streamed directly to engineers reporting on asset performance resulting in more proactive rather than reactive maintenance.

AIM to save your time and money, whilst reducing your carbon foot print

People always say the world is getting smaller, and with continuously improving technologies and means of communication it certainly seems like that is the case, it has never been easier to run a multi-site business remotely.
